Nepal is both a geographically and seasonally contrasting place. The weather up in the mountains are dramatically different from one season to the next so it is important to come and visit us at the right time of the year.

There are four seasons in Nepal.

  • December to February is Winter. The mountain areas are very cold with many areas remaining below freezing point for most of the day. Kathmandu, Pokhara and the lowland areas of Neapl are nice and mild over winter.

  • March to May is Spring. The Himalayas begin to thaw as the temperatures increase to more comfortable levels. This is a great season for trekking as the Giant Rhododendrons flower alongside the trails as they wind up into the mountains. You can expect temperatures of between -5degC at night to 20 degC during the day in Spring and Autumn.

  • June to August is the Summer Monsoon. The lowland plains are hot and humid and the Himalayan mountains catch a lot of rain that comes up with the monsoon.

  • September to November is Autumn. This is the best trekking season as the monsoon rains have cleared the skies and you’ll have great views of the high Himalayan peaks. Like Spring the temperates in the mountains are mild with crisp mornings and pleasant days.

During the Spring and Autumn trekking seasons you can expect mild settled weather up in the mountains. There are likely to be a few days when we may get some light snow which will fall as rain in the lower valleys. Most of the time the weather will be nice and sunny with great views of the lofty Himalayan peaks.
